Vinozhito to visit Australia

Some months ago, the Australian Macedonian Human Rights Committee (AMHRC) announced that it had officially invited Vinozhito to send a representative to Australia for the purpose of promoting their cause, etc.

We are now pleased to announce that the details of the visit have been officially finalised and that Pavle Voskopoulos and Nace Parisis from the Political Secretariat of Vinozito will be touring Australia under the guidance and coordination of the AMHRC in cooperation with the Macedonian Community of Western Australia, the Macedonian Community of South Australia and the National Union of Macedonian Australian Students (based in Sydney).

The visit will begin on Friday 12 November 2004 in Melbourne and then continue in Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and lastly back to Melbourne on Tuesday 23 November 2004. More details on the schedule will be released shortly. It would have been good if the visit could have included other cities where Macedonians reside, however the tight schedule (set at Vinozhito's request) simply does not allow for it.

Important aspects of the visit will consist of public forums, scholarly seminars, media conferences with both the Macedonian and the mainstream Australian media, dinners, etc. A key aim of the visit will be to expand the official Vinozito Support Fund formed in Melbourne by the AMHRC some two months ago. We are pleased to announce that in excess of $13,000 (AUD) has already been raised. Vinozito is currently working out a programme to present to our committee on how this money will be spent. It is envisaged that the money will be sent in instalments of $1,000 (AUD) on a monthly basis. Noteworthy is the fact that the Macedonian Human Rights Movement of Canada will also be sending (and in fact has been sending for some time now) Vinozhito a similar amount at a similar frequency.

Finally, we look forward to support from Macedonian community organisations around Australia in making this a successful visit. In this connection, now that the visit is official, the AMHRC is ready to accept money that has already been pledged for the purpose of financing this visit.
